The exhibition –
Polar Moments shows you 45 special moments from
polar areas. 45 thrilling
nature experiences for the photographer. All of them represent the beauty and
diversity that exist in our very coldest part of the world. Polar bears don’t
live alone. Global warming, and increased levels of pollutants still continue to
be a real challenge to the diverse wildlife.
Besides, enjoying the share
beauty of the polar nature, these images will hopefully also encourage you to
support the important scientific- and nature management work that is conducted
to ensure that our next generation still have a chance to experience the world
of ice and cold. Scientific reports conclude that today’s rate of global warming
will result in all sea ice in the world being gone during summers as early as
2050 – the most pessimistic say it might already happen within a decade…..The
Earth needs your help!
has been involved in scientific seabird
projects, and nature guiding on Svalbard since 2001. Conducting a behavior study
on the Arctic bird species – the barnacle goose,
he received his MSc. university degree in zoology in 2003. He runs his
own business, where he guides both birdwatchers and photographers to quality
nature experiences as well as working as a professional photographer. His own
images are regularly published in magazines and books world wide.
Polar Moments would never have been realized
without the Norwegian Polar Institute and the Norwegian Institute of Nature
Research, which continue to introduce me to various parts of the Arctic and
Antarctic through my employment on their scientific projects. Equally important
are the portrait photographers Fame fotografene AS, which helped with printing
and many ideas for layout of the Polar Moments project.
